The 30th Kravis-de Roulet Leadership Conference will convene campus representatives from the 25 distinguished institutions that have been honored with the inaugural 2024 Carnegie Elective Classification for Leadership for Public Purpose. This event serves as an important opportunity for these representatives to engage in meaningful discussions and share insights related to effective leadership for public purpose, teaching this discipline, and examples of leadership for public purpose initiatives.

Bernard "Bernie" Banks, Ph.D.
Doerr Institute for New Leaders
Bernard (Bernie) Banks is a noted expert on the subjects of leadership and organizational change. Currently, he is the Director of Rice University’s Doerr Institute for New Leaders (and a Clinical Professor of Management within the University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business). The mission of the Doerr Institute “…is to elevate the leadership capacity of Rice students and to improve the practice of leader development in higher education.” Most recently, Bernie served on the faculty and senior leadership team at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management from 2016-2024 prior to arriving at Rice.
David Day, Ph.D.
Kravis Leadership Institute
David V. Day is Professor of Psychology and Academic Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College. He also holds the titles of Steven L. Eggert ‘82 P’15 Professor of Leadership and George R. Roberts Research Fellow at the College. Prior to this appointment, he held the positions of Winthrop Professor and the inaugural Woodside Chair in Leadership and Management at the University of Western Australia Business School. Previous appointments include Professor of Organisational Behaviour (Singapore Management University), and Professor of Psychology (Penn State University and Louisiana State University).
About the Kravis-de Roulet Conference
The Kravis-de Roulet Leadership Conference, which began in 1990, is funded jointly by an endowment from the Henry R. Kravis and Vincent de Roulet families enabling us to attract the finest leadership scholars and practitioners as conference presenters and participants. Kravis-de Roulet regularly brings together hundreds of leadership researchers and professionals from all over the world.
